On the 1st Day of Christmas, A Box of Lucky Strike’s

This first of 12 posts pays tribute to the bygone days when we said Christmas on the air and a box of Lucky Strike’s warranted a 1 1/2 minute commercial spot. Flash-forward 60 years: Virginia (the home of Lucky Strike) bans smoking in all restaurants and bars and saying Merry Christmas warrants a reprimand from Human Resources. But in the 50′s, a box of Lucky Strike’s said: “Merry Christmas and Happy Smoking 200 times.”
