Random Things to be Thankful For

Another Thanksgiving is upon us and time to reflect on what I’m thankful. Of course,  family, friends, health and work always top the list, but I like to think about those things that make our life easier, more comfortable, fun and interesting. 1. Remote control. Seriously, can you  imagine having to get up from your sofa to flip through 100+ channels.  Sadly, I can remember the days of having to change the channel, but we only had four channels and only changed the channel when one show was over on one network for another show on another network. 2. Bed. We spend a 1/3 of our life sleeping., so having a bed  definetly makes life more comfortable. 3. Computer. Having the ability to work, shop, talk to friends, and watch TV shows from a 15-inch computer...

Things I Hate to Buy

No matter how many time Obama says the economy is getting better, I’m convinced he’s smoking dope with Bill Clinton somewhere at a bunker in West Virginia. Although red was the it color of the season, it doesn’t overshadow the fact that no matter who’s in office,  my dollar is still in 1st gear with so little power it may never find 2nd. Nevertheless, there are still things no matter how good or crappy the  economy I have to buy that prevents me from more frivolous spending like a 401k.  Let’s break it down. 1. Tampons. A great invention, but it really sucks to plop down $8/box each month for these suckers. And no, generic is not an option here. 2. Make-up.  $40 for a foundation stick, $25 for concealer, $20 for lip gloss, and so...

The Soundtrack of Our Lives

Often we don’t think about it until that one big crisis hits us, but at some point or another, we’ve probably all said, ”my life could be a movie.” Yet, it’s everyday we’re living the movie of our lives. The people we meet, the places we go, the experiences, and the range of emotions we feel, all come together to create a one-0f-kind movie reel of our life.  But it’s the music that accompanies us along the way, it’s the musicians that breathes life into our memories. Oh yes, it’s the music that plays when you’re at the bar and you finally lock eyes with the cute guy from English class. It’s the music we listen to when we’re on long road trips to visit our college boyfriends. The music that...

Let it Be

Typically, July’s my favorite month of the year. Something about heat, humidity and it being too hot to do anything productive makes me happy. Yet this year, I’ve been in funk that I can’t seem to shake. There’s been a lot in my head and a lot going on, but nothing going anywhere. One day it’s this and the next day it’s that. I just can’t focus or make any decisions. Inside, I feel I need answers to move forward with something, but I don’t know what that something is. Today, however, as I pounded the treadmill, the answer came through the shuffle on my ipod: “Let it Be.” See it seems I’ve been beating myself up when all I needed to do was to “let it be.” Now, I’m not a Beatles fan,...

Going Back

No matter if you’re waist-high in debt, your house is upside down or you hate your job, but stay out of fear you won’t find another one that offers you four weeks of vacation, the economy sucks. I’m just hanging on. I haven’t made it big with my blog ramblings and though I still have my book to write, which will probably lead to a liable suit from my ex-boyfriend in which all profits I do make will go to my legal team; I’m not banking on that to bail me out of recession Hell, just jail! I’m one of the underemployed and work diligently to pick up projects here there and everywhere. Yes, I even sometimes refer to myself as the “job whore” and I often wonder how low I will go to maintain my modest inside the beltway...
